Dar es Salaam. With the Mainland Premier League nearing its climax, Tanzania’s top teams, Young Africans (Yanga), Simba SC and Azam FC, are already in the process of bolstering their squads for next season, The Citizen has learned.

Defending champions Yanga are reportedly eyeing two Congolese players: Chadrack Boka from FC Lupopo and Agee Basiala from Union Maniema.

The Jangwani Street giants have also reportedly secured the signing of Yusuph Kagoma, a holding midfielder previously with Singida Fountain Gate FC.

On their side, Simba plan to recruit Ivorian defender Anthony Tra Bi Tra from Ivory Coast as well as Lameck Lawi of Coastal Union.

Azam FC have officially announced the recruitment of Yoro Mamadou Diaby, who is currently on loan with Stade Malien de Bamako.

Diaby is from the Yeleen Olympique Academy in Mali.

Yoro has also played for Mali’s youth national football teams, such as the U-17, U-20, and under-23, respectively.

He also featured in the African Nations Championship (CHAN) finals held in 2022 in Algeria. The ice-cream makers have also recruited Stade Malien striker Franck Tiesse.

The Ivorian has signed a two-year contract. Tiesse has helped Stade Malien qualify for the quarterfinals of the CAF Confederation Cup this season.

Speaking with The Citizen yesterday, an impeccable source from Yanga said that the club is serious about the players’ recruitment ahead of the next season, as they are targeting having a strong squad that will continue to shine in local competitions.

He said that Yanga is targeting higher, which is why its president, Hersi Saidi, is currently outside the country to initiate as well as complete some deals.

“We are serious about the matter, as we want to do more than what we have done this season, “ he said.

We are looking for committed and talented players who we believe will take our team higher than what we have reached this season, even though we were eliminated in the quarterfinals of the CAF Champions League through controversy.”
