What you need to know:
- Since Thursday, police said they were investigating the cameras of Yacht Club along the shores of the Indian Ocean as they search for billionaire Mohammed Dewji who was abducted by unknown people in Dar es Salaam.
- The Tanzanian tycoon is a member of the club but club manager says Mo had not been seen at the area until the moment he was kidnapped.
Dar es Salaam. Business was normal at Coco Beach on Sunday October 14 despite the high presence of police on the shores of the Indian Ocean as investigation on the kidnapped billionaire Mohammed Dewji, famously known as Mo, remains on course.
The Coco Beach Manager Emmanuel David told The Citizen that the kidnapping of Mo hasn’t affected business at the shores. Earlier, there had been reports of tension at the shores as police searched for Mo.
Mr David revealed, however, that “cases of people being kidnapped on the shores of the Indian Ocean had become common.”
David’s narrative was similar to what other beach goers told The Citizen. Beach boys who were interviewed by The Citizen recalled various incidents where people were attacked and kidnapped.
Three days ago, police thronged the Yacht Club in an attempt to find Mo. The law enforcers went through the cameras of the club which Mr Dewji was also a member.
Yacht Club general manager Brian Fernandez told The Citizen that the club was being investigated since Thursday following the abduction of Africa’s youngest billionaire.
But, Mr Fernandez said that the prominent businessman was not seen in the area since Thursday and added that there was no boat of any member left since Thursday.
"If any member of the club wants to board their boat, we first take them using our boat to where they parked. They write departure time so that he can be traced if they take long to return," said Mr Fernandez.
“If Mo was here, we could easily notice because he’s a famous person,” he added.
Earlier, The Citizen Reporter visited Mr Dewji’s residence but the security guards said that the family spokesperson could not speak to the media.
