TADB committed to farming support

Simiyu. In an effort to enable farmers contribute significantly in economy, the Tanzania Agricultural Development Bank (TADB) has attracted strategic stakeholders at the on-going Nanenane Exhibition taking place in Simiyu Region.

The bank’s marketing and public relations manager, Mr Said Mkabakuli, said here yesterday that the Nanenane Exhibition was an important annual farmers’ event where TADB is using as a platform to market its products and services to all stakeholders in the agricultural sector.

Mr Mkabakuli, who was speaking on behalf of the bank’s acting managing director, Mr Japhet Justine, said the institution was fostering relations with other key players for the growth of agriculture in the country.

“From Nanenane exhibitions taking place in different zones across the country, our bank believes that the challenges facing our farmers can get solutions,” Mr Mkabakuli said, noting that the bank’s presence at this year’s exhibitions has attracted many visitors.

According to Mr Mkabakuli, the exhibition also given the bank’s beneficiaries a splendid opportunity to give their testimonies, showcasing their products and services.

“The fifth hhase government under the stewardship of President John Magufuli is determined to revitalise the agricultural sector as part of its endeavours to turn Tanzania into a medium sized and industrial base economy by 2015,” he said.

He said industrialising Tanzania is President Magufuli’s top agenda and supporting agriculture could be helpful in realising the goal.

“Farmers are always free to visit us wherever we are be it here at the exhibition or elsewhere. We are committed to serving the farmers,” Mr Mkabakuli stressed.

Describing more about the bank’s commitment to support the farmers and agriculture sector ing general, Mr Mkabakuli said TADB released Sh39.3 billion to Zanzibar and 8 Mainland regions from 2016 up to the second quarter of this year alone.

Some of the bank’s collaborators include Private Agricultural Sector Support Trust (Pass) which is a facility established in the year 2000 in order to stimulate investment and growth in commercial agriculture and related sectors.

Others The Tanzania Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (TCCIA) which was established in 1988. It was initiated with the support of the Tanzanian Government to strengthen the private sector. Tanzania Women chamber of Commerce (TWCC).
