Abdul Nondo arrested at UDSM

Dar es Salaam. Chairman of Tanzania Students Network Program (TSNP) Abdul Nondo has been arrested by the police for allegedly been seen at the premises of the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM).
Speaking to The Citizen in a telephone interview, Nondo’s advocate Jebra Kambole said his client was arrested on Thursday around 9.00pm when he was talking to his friends at the university premises.
It is said the Nondo who is a third year student went to collect his belongings, things he had left behind following his suspension.
“He was with his friends when the police came and put him under arrest,” he said adding, “But he was arrested in a public area which provided access to Mwenge area”.
Mr Kambole said according to information he has, his client was arrested for illegally entering at the university premises.
“But on his suspension letter he wasn’t told never to visit the university without permit, so we wonder why he was arrested,” he said adding that have started to process to bail him out.
When reached, the UDSM Vice chancellor for Administrations Prof David Mfinanga said he wasn’t aware of the incident.
“I’m not aware of it, I need some time to follow-up before coming up with concrete information,” he told The Citizen.
