Dar es Salaam. Police in Kinondoni Municipality are holding three people in connection with the severe beating of businessman Robson Orotho, a resident of Bunju‘A’ area, in the city.

A statement issued by Kinondoni Regional Police Commander Muliro Jumanne on Friday, August 31, says the suspects are Kelvin Edson, Goodluck Festo and Rehema Nyage who are members of a community militia.

The suspects are said to have beaten Mr Orotho after he failed to pay fine of Sh50,000 for environmental cleanliness.

“The arrest came after the police saw a video clip  circulating on social media… we made a follow-up on the matter and managed to arrest the suspects for questioning before other legal procedures follow,” said Mr Jumanne in a statement.

The RPC went on to remind staff from public and private entities to work within the law, warning that the police force would take measures against whoever would violate rules and regulations.
