Mr Kafulila, who was appointed to his new position recently, said during his tenure he want to see clean reports from the Controller and Auditor General (CAG) in all district councils.

Mbozi. The Songwe Regional Administrative Secretary (RAS) David Kafulila has advised civil servants in the region to be more creative when addressing various challenges facing wananchi.

Mr Kafulila, who was appointed to his new position recently, said during his tenure he want to see clean reports from the Controller and Auditor General (CAG) in all district councils.

He added that his office will have zero tolerance on business as usual style of working.

Mr Kafulila gave the instructions on Friday, August 24, when speaking to councillors in Mbozi.

According to him, all councils should strive to increase revenue collection by coming up with creative plans.

He was of a view that the local government councils shouldn’t relax and wait for funds from the central government.

“I expect to see all councils making efforts to address challenges facing ordinary people in a creative way,” he said.

For his part, the Chairman of the Mbozi district council, Mr Eric Ambakisye, said the civic leaders have been working hard to boost revenue collection.

But he expressed his disappointment on the tendency of some investors in mining sector here who are evading government tax.

“In the year 2017/18 the council’s revenue from the mining sector was Sh20million, this isn’t acceptable,” he said.
