Sido seeks partners to promote industrialisation

Dar es Salaam. The Small Industries Development Organisation (Sido) is seeking local and foreign development partners to collaborate with in promoting industrialisation in Tanzania using cluster development approach.

Cluster development approach is a way to realise competitive advantage of industries by strengthening linkage and collaboration among various stakeholders across and beyond the value chains.

The Sido director of technology development and industrialisation, Eng Emmanuel Saiguran, told The Citizen that they receive support from the government and several other partners, stressed that they still want to bring on board more partners to help them reach all areas of the country.

“Sido is currently collaborating with several partners in implementing the Innovative Sustainable Economic Development in 20 regions, unfortunately, some of the regions are yet to be reached,” he said.

According to him, they were determined to reach all regions that is why they drumming support from other partners.

He disclosed that during this financial year, they received Sh5 billion from the government to help them implement several projects.

“Currently, we are using the funds to construct industrial parks, improve infrastructure in Manyara, Simiyu, Dodoma, Njombe, Katavi and Mtwara,” he said. Eng Saiguran said to create, promote and sustain innovative entrepreneurial base, sensitize community on the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), they need at least Sh50 billion annually.
