Tabling the 2018/2019 budget on April 23, this year, the then Minister for Works, Transport and Communications, Prof Makame Mbarawa told the Parliament that the government has set aside Sh50.8 billion for the constructing the Tazara flyover and an interchange at the junction in Ubungo.


Dar es Salaam. A portion of the road adjacent to Songas along the Mandela Road to Riverside Area will be subjected to construction this weekend. The construction company building the interchange at the junction in Ubungo, The China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC), issued the statement on Friday. 

“The construction will begin at 11pm of Friday, July 20 and will go on until Monday, July 23, at 5am,” reads part of the notice.

The notice advices the public to follow directions illustrated (see above photograph) in order to observe road safety.

Tabling the 2018/2019 budget on April 23, this year, the then Minister for Works, Transport and Communications, Prof Makame Mbarawa told the Parliament that the government has set aside Sh50.8 billion for the constructing the Tazara flyover and an interchange at the junction in Ubungo.

He said the money would be used for conducting feasibility studies and detailed designs of the projects.

He also said the government intended to improve road junctions at Kamata, Magomeni, Mwenge, Tabata, Morocco, Buguruni and Kinondoni.
