JPM appointed SADC deputy chairman

The President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr John Magufuli,

Dar es Salaam. The President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr John Magufuli, has been appointed the deputy chairman of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) for a period of one year effective from August, 2018.

During his tenure of office, President Magufuli is expected to chair the forthcoming 39th Ordinary Summit of SADC Heads of States scheduled to be held in Tanzania in August, 2019.

A statement issued and released to media outlets on Saturday, on August 18, 2018 by the Communications Unit in the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, has disclosed.

According to the statement, President Magufuli’s appointment was approved by the 38th Ordinary Summit of SADC Heads of States held in Windhoek, Namibia, on August 17 to 18, 2018.
