TZ coaches for Fina advance swimming clinic

Dar es Salaam. Three Tanzanian swimming coach have been selected to feature in the World Swimming Federation (Fina) advanced coaches course scheduled to start today in Harare, Zimbabwe.

The coaches are Michael Livingstone, Kanisi Mabena who are from Dar es Salaam Swimming Club (DSC) and Alex Mwaipasi from Taliss swimming club. The coaches left the country Thursday August 16 to Harare.

The clinic would be under famous Fina instructor, James Richards of the United Kingdoms.

Speaking before leaving to Harare, Livingstone said that they are very happy to secure the chance whereby they will attain the highest standard in swimming coaching.

Livingston said they will learn about Long term athlete development, freestyle techniques, Energy system and training zones, backstroke techniques and performance monitoring.

They will also learn how to plan for the success, Breaststroke techniques, motivation and goal setting, analyzing coaching starts, butterfly techniques analyzing and coaching turns, overview of strength and conditioning and Fina’s Anti- doping.

“This is advance learning and we are very happy to secure the chance, we are sure to bring the positive change in the development of the game in the country,” said Livingstone who is also Tanzania’s National swimming team coach ahead of the Sudan’s Cana zone three event. Also in the Cana coaching panel is Mwaipasi.

On his part, Mwaipasi said as they are national team coaches, will help to prepare the Tanzania swimmers who will feature in the Cana championships.

“Our task ahead is to prepare swimmers ahead of the Cana zone three championships in Sudan, we managed to win twice, we need to defend the title in abroad soil,” said Mwaipasi. Kanisi also echosed Mwaipasi’s comments adding that their task is to develop the game in the next level.
