The Standard Chartered Bank has launched a new account to enhance a culture of saving among its clients.
The head of consumer banking, Mr Tirus Mwithiga, said in a statement in Dar es Salaam that the Hifadhi account holders would pay only for transactions done. The account requires a minimum opening balance of Sh100,000 and has no monthly ledger fees.
An account holder will also be offered free services such as visa debit cards, monthly e-statements and local internal standing order set-ups.
“The account gives the customers full control of their monthly banking costs, given that the charges are entirely based on the customer transactions,” he said.
The bank, which has more than 300 employees in Tanzania, has branches in Dar es Salaam, Arusha, Moshi and Mwanza.
