Cheka set to face Argentine challenger

The Universal Boxing Organisation (UBO) middleweight champion, Francis Cheka alias SMG will now face off Argentinean Enrique Areco in the unification title bout on December 19.

The Pugilistic Syndicate of Tanzania's (PST) president, Emmanuel Mlundwa said the UBO and World Boxing Commission (WBC) had already authorised the duo to battle at Uhuru Stadium.

Areco won the World Boxing Commission middleweight title after triumphing over Fermin Vargas Quinones of Paraguay.

"I urge Cheka to train thoroughly because his opponent is very skilful and hungry for the title," he said.

Mlundwa said: "We've faith in our boxer, but he has train harder in order to win and extend his impressive run."


"He has won the hearts of many fans of recent, thus he has to avoid letting them down by hook or by crook," he stressed.

The Morogoro based boxer also holds the International World Circuit Boxing (ICB) middleweight title.

Cheka has played 25 bouts, winning 18, 12 by knockout, six loses, three by knockout and one draw while his adversary has 43 wins, 13 by knockout, 15 loses, six by knockout and seven draws.

On the undercard, Mbwana Matumla will take on Sunday Kizito in the 12-round bantamweight bout.

Besides, Francis Miyeyusho will fight Albert Mbena who will be making his third bout since joining boxing.
