Azam pull out of Tusker Cup, Stars bow to Yemen
By The Citizen Reporter

Azam FC have pulled out of this year's edition of the Tusker
Challenge Cup scheduled to kick off on December 14 in Dar
es Salaam.

Club's spokesman Shani Christoms told The Citizen yesterday that Azam had a tight schedule to compete at the tournament.

Shani thanked the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) for considering them, but stressed that the Tusker Cup was not in line with their programme.

The TFF picked the ice cream makers following their impressive run in the ongoing Vodacom Premier League.

They are placed third in the league with 18 points and their withdrawal leaves Simba, Young Africans and Mtibwa
Sugar eying the coveted event.

Meanwhile, Taifa Stars yesterday slumped to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Yemen in their second international friendly.

According to TFF's information officer Florian Kaijage, Taifa Stars played tactical football despite losing their second
friendly in a week.

He said midfield maestro Kigi Makassi slotted home the consolation goal for the Stars. In another development, Tanzania mainland soccer team, Kilimanjaro Boys, would camp next week readying for the Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup.

TFF's secretary general Fredrick Mwakalebela said the players would start training on November 18 at Uhuru Stadium.
