National soccer team, Taifa Stars head coach, Marcio Maximo said would not resign following his team's poor results in their international friendly matches in Egypt and Yemen.
Maximo said that in a press conference held yesterday at Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) yesterday when giving analysis of the team's performance in the tour.
He said that he was working with the government and TFF and none of them can put aside him due to his stance concerning with the discipline and professionalism apart of the results.
He explained that as a coach he must face all the pressure when the team fail to shine and the same soccer fans applauded him when the team performed well.
"Soccer has no straight graph, it has oscillations, and even giants like Brazil and Argentina lose to the lowly sides like Bolivia and Ecuador, this is the normal situation, Tanzania is growing up, I must face that challenges while I am coaching the team," said Maximo.
Maximo insisted that the players he axed from Taifa Stars who squad have no chance in the team as far as his coaching line is concerned.
"Players who misbehave and lack professional quality have no place at in my time," he said.
He said that those players who make headlines in the media were regular players in the national team before I took over, but none of them did much help the team," he said.
"You just remember before my time in the squad, the players were available and selected to form the team, what did they bring to Tanzanians, you must analyze it before commenting, they do not have a chance at all," he insisted said.
He added that he was a professional coach with all qualifications, like everybody else he was not happy to see the team lose.
"We do not have star players like Kaka, Ronal do, or Lionel Mess, this is not a club, it is a group, players must recognize that, I will be happy to see the players adhered to the discipline, commitment and daring attitude, which are very common at the professional level," he said.
Maximo also used an occasion to defend his choice of Ali Mustapha saying he was a good goalkeeper and thus he should not the blame of 5-1 defeat to Egypt.
He said Mustafa put up brilliant show in Rwanda where Taifa Stars won 2-1.
He admitted that the Pharaohs are among the formidable sides in the continent.
He said the match was technically a battle between professionals and green amateur players. None of the professional players based outside the country took part in the middle East tour.
Maximo said that the Tanzania mainland team start training on Wednesday ahead of the senior East and Central Africa Challenge Cup in Nairobi, Kenya.
