By The Citizen Reporter

After touring 37 other African countries, the World Cup trophy finally arrives in Tanzania today.

Tanzania will be the seventh country in East and Central Africa to host the coveted trophy on the first round of the tour that will climax in Cape Town next month.

"The world's most coveted sports icon and symbol of football supremacy is expected to land in Dare es salaam at 5PM to a colorful reception," Coca-Cola Tanzania marketing manager Ritha Tsehai told reporters yesterday.

She disclosed that president Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete would welcome the trophy at the JK Nyerere airport before proceeding with the tour to Zanzibar the next day.

Besides, minister for information, culture and sports George Mkuchika will be among the dignitaries who will lead the trophy tour to the 60,000-seater National Stadium.

Tsehai said all soccer fans who will show up at the stadium would have a chance for a close-up viewing.

According to her, the trophy will also be at the stadium on Saturday from 9am where all soccer stakeholders would be allowed to take souvenir photos with it.

She said popular musicians AY, Chid Benz, Nameless, Marlaw and Somalis K’naan, would entertain the soccer enthusiasts.
