A standoff between Tanzania Flava Unit (TFU) and Tanzania Urban Music Association (TUMA) has been resolved.According to the minister for Information, Youth, Culture and Sports Emmanuel Nchimbi, a series of meetings between the two rival parties culminated signing an agreement to end hostilities between them.The conflict, involving a businessman, Mr Ruge Mutahaba and the Mbeya Urban Member of Parliament (MP), Joseph Mbilinyi, revolved around which association between the two was responsible for the development of local artistes in the country. The standoff was also centred on the ownership of music recording studio facility donated by President Jakaya Kikwete as part of his efforts to support local artistes. Mr Mutahaba and his allies allegedly owned the studio. For their part, both Mr Mutahaba and Mr Mbilinyi said they would work hard to ensure that they implement resolutions contained in the agreement. According to the minister, the two sides have agreed to resolve their differences and work together for the development of music industry in the country.They also agreed to join forces in fighting for the rights of local artistes. ”We met with Mr Mutahaba and Mr Mbilinyi several times and we signed an agreement. The two sides have agreed to form an association to advocate the interest of artistes,” the minister said.The Singida East MP (Chadema) Tundu Lissu was also present during the resolution. According to Mr Nchimbi, Mr Mutahaba and Mr Nchimbi would take charge of informing their followers about the agreement. “I am happy that the two sides have resolved their differences,” the minister said. “They should come up with the best plan for the development of local artiste,” noted Mr Nchimbi, adding: “This opens a new chapter for local artistes.” |
