A cleric has called on voters in the country to ignore astrologists’ statements ahead of this year’s General Election. The Seventh Day Adventist Church Bishop in Mara Diocese, Mr James Machage, said that good leaders were not obtained through astrology, but rather through prayers.

A country could not be governed by astrology, which was tantamount to witchcraft-associated beliefs, Bishop Machage said in Bunda Township during the church’s ‘Follow the Bible’ worldwide race currently being conducted in Mara Diocese.

The race was tailor made for leaders of all religious convictions and government to adhere to the scriptures which, he said were the basis for the formation of any peaceful nation.

Any society whose foundation was strongly built on the Holly Bible hardly experience cruelty, injustice, sexually transmitted diseases, corruption, hatred and vengeance, he said, calling on residents of Mara region to turn to God for them to know peace.

He refuted reports by critics that the version of the Holly Bible in the race belongs to the church, saying the Bible was not printed by a union of Christian denominations in the world as claimed.

The Adventist Church owned property rights of the Bible, which was printed in 66 languages worldwide, the Bishop explained.

‘Follow the Bible’ race dated back to Oct 11, 2008 when the race was launched before it reached West African countries. The race reached the East African region mid last month through Ivory Coast, the programme coordinator in the diocese, Pastor Enock Sando, said.

The Bible race whose primary objective is to advocate for peace reached Dar es Salaam City mid last month when it proceeded to the coastal regions, southern highlands and Mara Diocese.

The race, which was expected to reach Nyanza South Diocese in Mwanza City yesterday, will end in Georgia, United States, according to Pastor Sando.
