The Citizen Reporter Dar es Salaam. Two Tanzanian golfers will represent the country in the Kenako South African Junior competition to take place from March 8 to 10 this year. The 54-hole event will take place on the above mentioned dates at the Kingswood Golf Estate in Cape Town. Tanzania Golf Union (TGU) Administrative Officer, Sophie Nyanjera named the Tanzanian golfers for the event as Isaac Anania from TPC Club and Nuru Mollel from Arusha Gymkhana. “We expect our golfers will excel at the event and come back home with trophies”, said Nyanjera Apart from Tanzania, the event will also bring together other golfers from various countries. Other countries, whose golfers are expected to take part include Kenya, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Rwanda, Burundi and Nigeria. Meanwhile, correspondent Brown Msyani reports that over a hundred golfers have confirmed to participate in the Morogoro Open Golf Tournament scheduled to tee off here tomorrow at Morogoro Gymkhana course. Tanzania Golf Union (TGU) official culture Sophie Nyanjera said the minister for Sports and Information Emanuel Nchimbi will be the chief guest at the two-day event. She said the competition will be played under stroke-play format involving 36 holes. Sophie said the tournament has attracted a number of prominent golfers, including national team players from six clubs. The golfers in line for the event’s title chase include Foti Gwebe, Mohabe Nyirabu, Mohamed Diwani, Joseph Tango, Chris Kamuzora, Dionis Malinzi, Salehe Tambwe, Fatma Makame, Adamu Ngamilo,Nuru Mollel,Jimmy Mollel, Elisante Lembrice, Abbas Adamu and Frank Roman. Others are Hamisi Ally, Pembe, Aidan Nziku, Athumani Chiundu, Iddi Mzaki, Michael Makala, Adamu Mwanyenza, Godfrey Leverian, Julius Mbilinyi, Hawa Wanyeche, Mbonile Burton,Shaz Myombe, Violet Petar, Grace Petar, Hilda Mbezi, Zainabu Ibrahimu and Chiku Elias. She said the TGU chairman Dioniz Malinzi will also announce the appointment of Judge (rtd) Mark Bomani the new golf patron. |
