NMB spends Sh10million on desks for two secondary schools

What you need to know:

  • NMB, one of the top banks in the country, has donated 96 desks to schools in coast region. The bank has spent Sh900 million to support implementation of development projects.

Coast Region. The NMB Bank has spent Sh900 million out of Sh1 billion in a period between January and November 2018 to support the government’s efforts in addressing challenges facing the education and health sectors.

NMB Public Relations manager for the Eastern Zone Anneth Kwayu revealed this yesterday shortly after handing over the bank’s donation of 96 desks and chairs that cost Sh10 million to Kibaha District commissioner Assumpter Mshama.

DC Mshana received the desks and chairs for use by students of Mihande and Dossa Azizi secondary schools in the Coast Region.

Kwayu explained that in order to thank society for being great customers of the bank, the NMB leadership had been allocating its budget every year to address various challenges facing communities through various donations to hospitals, dispensaries, primary and secondary schools.

"We recognise the efforts being made by the government in putting in place a good environment for members of the public, including improving health and education sectors.

“So, we have been at the forefront of supporting those efforts in different regions in the country and we promise that we will keep doing so," said Kwayu.

Receiving the donation, Mshama said in order to enable students to enjoy the fruits of the industrial economy in the near future, there was a need to put in place friendly infrastructure for them to learn various lessons.

For his part, the head of Dossa Azizi Secondary School, Mr Joel Iringo, said the donation had allayed fears that gripped him and his counterpart at Mihande Secondary School, especially over students joining Form One in 2019.

Speaking on behalf of fellow students after the donation, Mihande Secondary School Form Three student Abdul Kondo and Abdul Hamza of Dossa Azizi Secondary thanked the NMB leadership for remembering them, asking other institutions to emulate the financial institution’s action.
