Longido Village chairman wanted for embezzlement

Arusha.  The Chairman of Ewor ndeke village, Kimokokua Ward in Londigo District Moses Lesikar Leng’ese Ole Nasuaku is being hunted by the police after he was accused of allegedly embezzling Sh69 million.

Then money was meant for compensating villagers to pave the way for implementation of an energy project.

The Longido DC Frank Mwaisumbe has, therefore, ordered that he either gets arrested immediately or he returns the funds he obtained through false pretenses.

The Longido district commissioner said the development came after number of villagers accused their chairman of obtaining the money for  land compensations, claiming that he owns the area demarcated to pave the way for an energy project.

 “This Chairman was paid twice using different names whereby he was paid Sh66 million as a compensation of his seven acre land  and another Sh69 million for a ten-acre land under the names of Lesikar Leng'ese and Moses Leng'ese,” said the district commissioner.

He said out of seven villagers interrogated by the police on the incident, five confirmed that the chairman was lying while only two saidthat he that he owned the area since 2013.

“It is true that he has obtained money through false pretense, so, we want him to repay the amount within seven days or else he will be taken to court,” he said.

One of the villagers Mbayo Olotite said their chairman had long lost the people’s trust and they were planning to report the issue to the Arusha Regional Commissioner Mrisho Gambo for further actions.
