Dar e salaam. The government has purchased a digital X-ray machine which will be installed at the Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH).
The machine was handed to the hospital yesterday. It cost $200,000 (Over Sh400 million), according to the MNH head of radiation department, Dr Flora Lwakatare.
According to her, by using the modern digital X-ray machines, laboratory technicians wouldn’t have to develop the images by using negatives, instead the images would be printed electronically.
Dr Lwakatare added that the images could also be transferred digitally from one hospital to another.
Dr Lwakatare revealed that the machine prints quality images compared to the analogue machines which were currently being used by the hospital.
MNH also received another donation from UK Electronics Limited. The donations include 200 bed sheets, 150 mosquito nets, four television sets, four decoders.
The company representative Mr John Solomon urged the community to cooperate with the government in improving social services, including health services.
Meanwhile, the MRI and CT-Scan machines which broke down a few weeks ago have started to operate. According to Dr Lwakatare, about 148 patients have been diagnosed by using MRI machines.
