Dar es Salaam. Those wishing to build houses in Kigamboni District will have a reason to smile, after the authority revealed it will reduce the timeframe for issuing building permits.
Municipal executive director Stephen Kapemba said on Saturday, August 11, that the permits will be issued in less than two weeks after application.
“In the past it took so long for the permits to be issued. However, from now onwards the documents will be processed upon being received,” he said when addressing local government officials in the district.
Mr Kapemba said the municipality would also offer delivery services to applicants in a fresh bid to shorten the process.
He said that the new strategy would spur development activities in the municipality.
“There is no reason for people to queue at our officers, waiting for building permits. Our officers will be delivering to them promptly,” he said, adding that for those wishing to buy plots in Kigamboni they should consult the municipality first.
“They will be shown our master plan to avoid unplanned settlements,” he explained.
