Sevilla FC First Team set for a historic pre-season tour of Tanzania

Former La Liga Champion and Five-time UEFA Europa League Champions Sevilla FC will play pre-season friendly with either Simba SC or Young Africans FC on May 23.

Sevilla FC which is the first ever club from the Spanish top league to visit Tanzania courtesy of gaming company SportPesa and La Liga will play with one of SportPesa’s local partners, Simba SC or Young Africans SC at the national stadium in Dar es Salaam.

Addressing the press conference, SportPesa’s Director of Administration and Compliance, Tarimba Abbas said the visit is part of the company’s commitment to football development in Tanzania.

“SportPesa is leveraging on its continuing partnership with La Liga, to showcase local talent and grow the level of football in the region,” Tarimba said.

While in Tanzania, Sevilla FC who earned a UEFA Champions League spot for next season will participate in capacity building seminars with local football stakeholders, soccer clinics with youth players, CSR projects as well as visit some of the country’s top tourist attractions.

History continues

English Premier League made history when they visited Tanzania in 2018.

"Since we are partnering with some of most decorated football institutions in the world, we saw the need to bring another experience of such magnitude to Tanzania this time leveraging on our esteemed partnership with La Liga to bring one of the most iconic football clubs in Europe, Sevilla FC, to continue what we already started.” noted Tarimba.

“It is with this in mind that SportPesa Tanzania saw an opportunity to host Sevilla FC after reaching an agreement with our SportPesa Global office to bring a La Liga team here.”

According to him the aim is to make the football world to appreciate Tanzania as one of the best pre-season destinations besides the countless number of talents that we want to showcase to the international scouting teams,” asserted Tarimba.
