Dar es Salaam. A Kiswahili website has been introduced to support the government in its industrialisation agenda by 2020.
The aim is to simplify the access of books and other information written in Kiswahili, a language spoken by nearly 120 million people in Central and East Africa.
The website, Makavazi.com, has been introduced by three students of the Institute of Kiswahili Studies at the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM).
One of the students is Abdulrazack Twaha.
He is a third year student in Kiswahili.
Twaha told The Citizen on Friday here that people can access books on all translated into Kiswahili.
“Kiswahili can be part of industrial economy as small and medium entrepreneurs can access books that direct them on ways of improving their businesses. Farmers can also learn various types of quality seeds to have high yields.”
According to him, the website also aims at spreading the use of Kiswahili globally.
He called upon the public to visit the Web to benefit from it.
In another development, the UDSM Business School is implementing a second phase of a project on Tanzania Agricultural Investment Mapping.
The aim is to help investors where they can easy find areas for investing by using the map.
The project will help investors where to get information and reduce the knowledge gap.
A project team member, Dr Tobias Swai, said Tanzania would be industrialised without research.
He said the university would continue coming up with studies to speed up the attainment of the industrialisation agenda.
