JPM names Mrema as chairman of Parole Board

Dar es Salaam. President John Magufuli has appointed Tanznaia Labour Party (TLP) national chairman Augustine Mrema as the Parole Board chairman, State House announced yesterday.
Mr Mrema is among a number of people whose appointments were announced yesterday. According to State House, Mr Mrema’s appointment will chair the board for three years from July 16.
Mr Mrema takes over from Judge (rtd) Eusebia Munuo whose term has expired. Dr Magufuli also promoted 59 police officers.
In another appointment, Prof William Mahalu has been named the Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute (JKCI) board chairman from yesterday while Prof Mohamed Janabi has been appointed the institute’s executive director.
Prof Angelo Mapunda and Ms Sengiro Mulebya will serve as members of the Judicial Service Commission for three years.
Mr Oliver Mhaiki has been appointed as chairman of the Teachers Service Commission while Ms Winifrida Gaspar Rutaindurwa has been appointed as the commission secretary.
Dr Charles Majinge becomes the chairman of the Muhimbili National Hospital Board of Trustees while Dr Julius Mwaiselage has been named as the new executive director of Ocean Road Cancer Institute from July 15 this year.
Meanwhile, Dr Magufuli has promoted 25 police officers from the rank of Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police to Deputy Commissioner of Police.
Thirty-four police officers have been promoted from the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police to Senior Assistant of Police.
