He said, the beach should also be improved to attract tourism and more business activities in order that many people can benefit from it.

Mr Majaliwa made the statements on Wednesday morning when he participated in a cleaning exercise at the beach as the country is marking the national Heroes’ Day.

“The beach has to be used economically, I’m aware the municipal is preparing a plan to develop the area. Keep the area clean all the time,” he said.

On the issue of security, Mr Majaliwa was of a view that people who are going to the beaches need to be assured of the safety of their properties.

“They are coming with their cars, so we need to assure their protection. It’s the duty of the municipal authority to work on this,” he said.
