Dr Syriacus Buguzi
Dr. Syriacus Buguzi, is a Medical/ Science Journalist based in Dar-es Salaam. Formerly, he worked as a Health Reporter for The Citizen where he also served as Assistant News Editor for the Weekend Editions.
A qualified medical doctor, he received his journalism training while studying medicine at Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Health Sciences (Muhas). He now holds a Masters in Science Communication from the University of Sheffield (UK).
In 2014, he won the David Astor Journalism Award and was attached to at London newspapers —The Independent and Guardian. He has also been attached at the Health Journalism Centre, Bhekisisa, Mail &Guardian; in South Africa.
He is passionate about raising the profile of health journalism in Tanzania and making complex, jargon-laden science accessible, understandable and engaging to the public.
