Halotel announces 70pc reduction in calling rates

Dar es Salaam. Halotel Tanzania is cutting its calling rates on both domestic and international by over 70 per cent.
This follows the introduction of two bundles: “Royal” and “Tomato”.
With the Royal Bundle, charges have been lowered to Sh60 per minute for international calls, a massive drop from the usual Sh228 per minute.
Halotel Tanzania managing director Nguyen Van Son, said with Royal Bundle, Halotel’s subscribers will get unlimited services in calling and use of internet.
“Clients will automatically be connected when their bundles expire…When designing our products; special emphasis on quality and affordability were considered,” he said.
The Royal Bundle will enable to make make unlimited domestic and international calls to India, China, Canada and America with 520 minutes of calling across various networks per month, 2GB of data and 500 SMS per month at Sh10,000.
The rate of domestic calls is also set at Sh1 per second and Sh2 per second on international call.
“A subscriber, enrolled on our Royal Bundle will also be able to get 1MB of data at a cost of Sh5 and send SMS at a cost of only Sh2 each,” he said.
Speaking about the “Tomato Bundle”, Mr Son said the product will enable the telecommunication subscribers to make free phone calls to any Halotel number for five minutes upon being registered.
He said Tomato Bundle Subscriber Identification Module (SIM) cards will be sold at a price of Sh8,000 each but half of the money (Sh4,000) will be refunded to the client in form of airtime which the subscriber will use on other Halotel services for a period of one month.
