Chid Benz embraces simple life, but ‘boda boda’ riders avoid him

What you need to know:

  • He revealed that he no longer fears public judgment or the media and that he’s content with living a modest lifestyle, even if his fortunes improve in the future.

Dar es Salaam. Legendary Bongo Flava artist Chid Benz is enjoying a simpler life these days, but there's a twist – many Boda Boda riders refuse to give him a lift! The music icon, who was once a dominant force in Tanzania’s music scene, now prefers to walk everywhere, explaining that it's become his primary mode of transportation since many motorcycle taxi riders avoid him, fearing he won't pay.

He was recently spotted at a local joint in Sinza, Dar es Salaam while casually waiting for fried cassava.

He revealed that he no longer fears public judgment or the media and that he’s content with living a modest lifestyle, even if his fortunes improve in the future.

"I love the life I’m living now. As you can see, I’m just here waiting for my fried cassava, and people pass by without a second glance. I don’t live in fear of what fans or the media will think. This is the life I enjoy, and even if I get money again, I’ll still live like this," Chid Benz confidently stated.

But while he’s embraced a peaceful life, there’s one odd challenge — boda boda riders. "Some of these boda boda guys won’t even stop for me! They think I won’t pay them," he said, laughing off the situation.

The veteran rapper also shared that he frequently walks long distances, like from Sinza to Magomeni, without any issues.

He’s fully embraced walking as part of his daily routine and is enjoying the calm that comes with it.
