Tanzania's first-ever cargo airplane lands at Dar es Salaam airport

What you need to know:

  • The new Boeing 767-300F is expected to boost cargo freight within East Africa and give Tanzania a chance to compete for the market

Dar es Salaam. Tanzania's first Boeing 767 freighter, which cost $37 million to manufacture, landed at the Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar es Salaam on June 3.

The new Boeing 767-300F is expected to boost cargo freight within East Africa and give Tanzania a chance to compete for the market.

The arrival of the freighter will enable investors and businesspeople who were forced to export their cargo using other airlines to opt for ATCL.

The cargo plane has the ability to carry 54 to approximately 58 tons (52.7 tonnes) of revenue payload over more than 3,255 nautical miles (6,025 km).

The plane was received by President Samia Suluhu Hassan and Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa.
