Sports Minister invites Egypt's Al Ahly to establish an academy in Tanzania

The minister of Arts, Culture, and Sports, Dr. Damas Ndumbaro, has invited Egyptian football giants Al Ahly Club to invest in the sports sector in Tanzania by opening an academy to promote and develop sports talents in the country.

Dr. Ndumbaro made this request when he visited the club’s facilities in Cairo, Egypt, where he was with other Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) officials, who were representing the country as it was gearing for the bid to host the Afcon finals for 2027 together with Kenya and Uganda.

The Egyptian club owns a big sports facility, the Gezira Centre, which runs various sports including football, netball, volleyball, golf, and soccer.

Ahly is the most successful club in African football, having won a record 11 CAF Champions League titles. It was founded in 1907 in Cairo, and it is claimed to have more than 40 million supporters in Egypt.
