Halotel introduces VIP Simcards
Dar es Salaam. Halotel has introduced new simcards for its VIP customers saying the move is the first of its kind in Tanzania’s mobile phone market.
The lines allow the subscribers to make calls and use internet without connecting bundles as they are charged at cheaper rates. “This service targets customers in all incomes. We have put them in groups namely silver for low and medium spenders and gold for customers who spend substantial amounts. This model aims at satisfying needs of every customer,” said the firm’s head of communications, Mhina Semwenda.
“For instance, a customer who will purchase a silver VIP line worth Sh5,000 will be able to call within network at only Sh30 per minute while under normal rates such calls cost Sh228 per minute. A holder of a silver can also make a call to another network at Sh45 per minute compared with Sh228 per minute charged on other models. For 1 MB, a silver card holder will use internet at Sh4 compared with normal rates of Sh30.72 per MB,” he added.
“It is our hope that this service will give our customers and all Tanzanians additional communication channel and save a lot of money especially among businesspersons and workers who spent a lot in communication,” said Mr Semwenda.
