Dar es Salaam. Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa has officially launched the Export Processing Zone Authority (EPZA) Business Facilitation Portal, a groundbreaking online platform designed to streamline investment processes in Tanzania.

The portal provides investors with direct access to comprehensive information and procedures, regardless of their location. It is part of a broader effort to improve the business environment and attract foreign investment.

Mr Majaliwa introduced the portal alongside four other key reports designed to enhance the business environment and streamline investment processes.

These reports include the National Guideline for the Development and Management of Special Economic Zones (SEZ), the Report on the Assessment of the Implementation of the Business Environment and Investment Improvement Plan, the National Investment Report for 2023, and the Strategic Plan of the President’s Office for Planning and Investment for the period 2024/2025 - 2025/2026.

During the launch on Wednesday, Majaliwa urged government institutions and authorities to accelerate the reform of laws and regulations to foster a more business-friendly environment. He emphasised the need for efficient, swift service delivery that meets international standards and for streamlined communication with investors to remove existing barriers.

“This issue should go hand in hand with setting priorities for providing services quickly, efficiently, and in accordance with international standards. Authorities should have streamlined systems for communicating with investors and removing existing barriers,” Majaliwa stated.

The EPZA Business Facilitation Portal is a significant step towards modernizing Tanzania's investment climate. It allows investors to handle their investment concerns online, including registration, obtaining licenses, and accessing incentives without the need for physical office visits.

This system aims to make Tanzania more competitive in attracting both domestic and foreign investments.

EPZA director general Charles Itembe highlighted that the portal aligns with President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s directives to create a conducive business environment in Tanzania. He noted that the portal will not only simplify the investment process but also enhance Tanzania’s appeal as an investment destination.

“This groundbreaking initiative marks yet another significant milestone in advancing Tanzania's business-friendly environment,” Itembe said.

The launch of the EPZA Business Facilitation Portal is part of the government’s broader strategy to attract significant foreign investments, create jobs, and drive sustainable economic development.

By leveraging such initiatives, Tanzania aims to position itself as a premier investment hub where entrepreneurs and investors can thrive.

This landmark project reflects Tanzania's commitment to improving its investment landscape and supporting economic growth through innovative solutions and enhanced accessibility for investors.
