Iringa. Precision Air has officially launched flights to Iringa, becoming the third airline to operate in the region alongside Auric Air and Air Tanzania (ATCL).

The airline’s inaugural flight landed at Nduli Airport on 3rd March 2025, marking a significant boost to the region’s transport network, tourism, and economic activities.

Speaking at the launch event, Sales and Marketing Officer at Precision Air’s Iringa office, Bibiana Alfred, stated that the decision to introduce flights to the region was driven by increasing demand from businesspeople, tourists, and local residents.

"Precision Air aims to ensure that travellers from Iringa have more flight options while also stimulating business and tourism growth in the region. We are providing a great opportunity for government institutions, NGOs, and private businesses. Our promotional fares start at Sh99,000 from Iringa via Dodoma to Dar es Salaam," she said.

Officiating the event, the Deputy Minister for Transport, David Kihenzile, called on private sector stakeholders and aviation investors, both local and international, to invest in aircraft acquisition to support the government’s efforts in expanding air transport services across the country.

Iringa Regional Commissioner, Peter Serukamba, commended Precision Air for its investment, highlighting that improved air connectivity would significantly contribute to the local economy by increasing visitor numbers and facilitating cargo transportation.

Tourism stakeholders and businesspeople in Iringa have expressed optimism that the additional airline will help lower travel costs, improve efficiency, and attract more investors and tourists to the region.

Precision Air’s expansion coincides with the near completion of renovations at Iringa Airport, located in Nduli Ward, Iringa Municipality. The project, which has reached over 95 percent completion at a cost of Sh68 billion, is set to enhance the airport’s capacity to handle commercial flights. Major operations are scheduled to commence on 22nd February 2025.

With this latest development, residents and visitors to Iringa can expect more reliable and affordable air travel options, further integrating the region into Tanzania’s broader transport network.
