  • The authority has issued a warning, stating that appropriate measures will continue to be taken against non-compliant providers.

Dar es Salaam. The Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA) has revealed that half of the country’s courier service providers are in violation of regulations concerning parcel deliveries within one day, as outlined in the Service Quality Standards.

The authority has issued a warning, stating that appropriate measures will continue to be taken against non-compliant providers.

In a statement released yesterday, which included the communication status report for Tanzania between October and December 2024, TCRA confirmed that only eight out of 17 service providers evaluated were adhering to the required standards. The report was issued by TCRA Director General, Dr Jabiri Bakari.

TCRA assessed the quality of parcel delivery services across Tanzania based on the Service Quality Standards, focusing on courier services in Region A, which includes cities like Arusha, Moshi, Tanga, Morogoro, Kibaha, Dodoma, Mbeya, Mwanza, Iringa, and Zanzibar.

Providers in this region are required to ensure that at least 85 percent of the parcels they receive are delivered the next day.

The regulations also apply to Region B, where courier services must guarantee that at least 88 percent of parcels are delivered within three days.
