Tanzania Shipping Agencies Corporation vows to boost port efficiency

Dar es Salaam. The Tanzania Shipping Agencies Corporation (Tasac) has pledged to strengthen maritime transport regulation and ensure fair competition at the nation’s ports to enhance economic growth.

Speaking on December 1, 2024, Tasac Senior Accountant Faustine Masaru highlighted ongoing efforts to improve port efficiency, enhance maritime safety, and reduce environmental pollution from maritime activities.

“Tasac is committed to making Tanzania a competitive maritime hub. Dry ports have been introduced to alleviate congestion at seaports, ensuring smoother operations,” Masaru said.

He also mentioned Tasac’s recognition by the National Board of Accountants and Auditors (NBAA) for best accounting practices in 2023, reflecting its effective resource management.

Masaru noted that the corporation is exploring the adoption of unmanned ships as part of future technological advancements to boost efficiency.

Director of Accounting and Finance, Pascal Karomba, emphasized Tasac’s dedication to safeguarding maritime safety and protecting the environment, calling these responsibilities key to the agency’s mission.
