Dar es Salaam. Exim Bank has introduced a new platform that will facilitate direct payment of school fees by parents as part of the initiatives to embrace digital technologies in the education sector.
Dubbed ‘Exim Smart Shule,’ the payment platform utilises a system-generated control number and allows payments through bank branches, agents and mobile phone networks.
The initiative aims to streamline fee payment processes, promoting efficiency and accessibility in school fee transactions, according to the bank’s head of branch operations, Ms Eugen Massawe.
“This platform demonstrates our commitment to being innovative in promoting digital financial inclusion and staying connected to our customers. A parent or guardian will just request a special control number from the school to easily and securely make payments,” she said.
The platform integrates technology and financial services to revolutionise payments in the education sector, she said.
The bank’s senior manager for digital channels, Mr Ramadhan Mbaga, said the platform helps to ensure that payments are correctly attributed to the corresponding student’s account, reducing the likelihood of payment discrepancies or misallocations.
Through the platform, parents and guardians will also have access to student performance reports, the school’s annual calendar, and a tracking system for student transportation.
Additionally, students will benefit from a library filled with learning materials designed to enhance their academic performance.
