Dar es Salaam. The Confederation of Tanzania Industries (CTI) yesterday joined forces with the Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TanTrade) to launch the first Tanzania International Manufacturers Expo 2023.

The Expo is set to take place on October 4-6, 2023 at Diamond Jubilee Hall, Dar es Salaam.

It is designed to bring together pioneers of the private sectors, government ministers, development partners, embassies and the international community to explore opportunities for mutual growth and success.

CTI executive director, Leodgar Tenga, said the Expo, which will focus on innovation, technology, production practices and quality standards, will attract over 500 international and local exhibitors and stakeholders from industrial heavyweights.

He said stakeholders will use the Expo as a platform to discuss global trends, exchange ideas and promote Tanzania as a manufacturing hub.

The Expo, he explained, will feature a diverse range of activities such as exhibitions, business match-making (B2B), seminars, panel discussions, and keynote addresses from prominent local and international businessmen and decision makers.

The topics to be discussed at the event aim at capitalizing on the recent economic development policies that are supporting industrial growth in Tanzania, as well as introducing new business models and the latest technology needed to enable greater success.

“The Expo 2023 will be bridging the gap between the potentials of the local manufacturing industry to global importers and international buyers,” said Mr Tenga.

Throughout the three-day event, attendees will gain insights on the following topics; Extractive manufacturing, Agri-processing, Manufacturing of consumer goods and Petrochemicals.

Other topics to be covered are Pharmaceuticals, Renewable energy technologies, Electrical Appliances and Modern industrial equipment and machinery.

Tantrade acting director of trade promotion, Fortunatus Mhambe, urged manufacturers to use the Expo to take their brands to new heights.

“We hope to have our prominent local industries showcasing their products as a way of marketing their products to the globe,” said Mr Mhambe.

CTI first Vice chairperson, Hussein Sufiani, exuded his optimism that the Expo will foster the linkages between the local and international manufacturing industry.

“The Expo will give manufacturers a platform for businesses to come together, develop, expand, and ultimately share their expertise,” said Mr Sufiani.

Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC) director of Investment Promotion, John Mnali, said: “the expo will provide an essential platform to share the country’s potential for investment, especially in the manufacturing sector.”
