Moshi.  Chadema’s Youth Wing (Bavicha) in Kilimanjaro Region has said it will take part in “Operation Ukuta” despite the ban announced by state organs.

Speaking at the weekend here Bavicha chairman Kibona Dickson said the youth wingers are prepared and are not afraid of participating in the operation slated for September 1.

He said the demonstrations will be preceded by a procession and will end with a public rally in Moshi Town.

Mr Kibona pointed out that freedom and multi-party democracy are not gifts from the rulers, they are part of the country’s constitution.

The youth leader said he is saddened by the silence of the country’s Registrar of Political Parties, Judge Francis Mutungi.

Mr Kibona says although the registrar knows the Political Parties Act 1992 (No. 5 of  1992) that allows for rallies and demonstrations and that  Judge Mutungi had failed to use his  authority to condemn CCM national chairman’s move to ban  the political activities that are within people’s rights.

Chadema Special Seats MP Lucy Owenya has called on Tanzanians to pray for the success of the demonstration as party leadership was currently going through a difficult time.
