CUF boycott benefits CCM immensely in Pemba

During the 2010 general election, CUF won in all constituencies in Pemba, making it the politically superior party in the Isles,

Pemba. The main opposition party, Civic United Front (CUF), lost nearly all constituencies in Pemba to the ruling CCM which took advantage of the opposition’s boycott on poll rerun conducted on Sunday.

But yesterday’s results of the repeat elections for the position of Member of House of Representatives shows that the CUF has not retained a single seat while CCM won by a landslide.

Out of 18 constituencies, 17 of them went to CCM and opposition the United People’s Democratic Party (UPDP) got one.

In Chakechake district, Pemba South, where there are five constituencies, CCM grabbed four seats, leaving only one to the opposition United People’s Democratic Party (UPDP) whose candidate, Mr Asaa Ali Hamad, won in Ziwani constituency.

In the main Island of Unguja, The Citizen collected the results of 14 constituencies which all went to CCM, th line up being: Chukwani CCM (5,931), CUF (176), ADC (158), Demokrasia Makini (23), NRA (1) . Others are: Kiembesamaki CCM (6,931), CUF (166), Demokrasia Makini (110), NRA (79), Mwanakwerekwe CCM (5,399), CUF (161). Others are:

Pangawe CCM (5,369), CUF (161), Kijitoupele CCM (6,968), CUF (110), SAU (111), Fuoni CCM (1,426) CUF (44), Mwera CCM (3,478), CUF (81), Bububu CCM (6,581), CUF 2,010), ADC (218). The rest are: Mtopepo CCM (6,606), CUF (195) SAU (226), Mfenesini CCM (5,743), CUF (75),ADC (186), Welezo CCM (4,707), CUF (75) na Chauma (107), Mtoni CCM (8,086), CUF (198), ADC (322) Chauma (119), Paje CCM (8,194), CUF (82), ACT (100) Makunduchi CCM (10,718), ADC (167), CUF (71), and Chauma (56).
