Dar es Salaam. Bongo Flava icon, Ali Saleh Kiba, alias Alikiba, celebrated two decades in the music industry by unveiling his latest venture, Crown Media, last night, Saturday, March 9, 2024, at the Hyatt Regency in Dar es Salaam.

The star-studded ceremony, attended by esteemed guests including former President Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete, Minister of Information Nape Moses Nnauye, Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner Albert Chalamila and other artistes was a testament to Alikiba's enduring influence.

Amidst the glitz and glamour, his radio station Crown FM was granted the frequency 92.1, extending its reach to Dar es Salaam, Tanga, Zanzibar, and the Pwani regions.

Alikiba, known for hits such as, 'Huku', 'Mahaba', 'Utu' and 'Sumu' shares his journey and the inspiration behind venturing into the media.

"Media is a powerful tool; it played a significant role in shaping me into the Alikiba of today. I couldn't sleep without my small radio, a gift from my father. The challenges I faced led me to provide a solution through media, and that's what inspired me," he reveals.

Reflecting on the choice of the name ‘Crown’ for his media empire, Huku-hitmaker emphasises its symbolic significance.

"Crown represents the value we aim to bring to everyone—a royal experience in entertainment," explains King Kiba.

Some of his fans express that those are the things we, as a country, need to move in the industry of Bongo Flava.

"This media is what we want to see for the other artistes as well; we need competition that is beneficial for young people to have employment," shares music fan Onesmo Sanga on his part.

Many established and up-and-coming artistes also salute Alikiba for the launch of Crown Media.

Notable figures, including former President Kikwete and Minister Nnauye, laud Alikiba's bold move into the media industry, recognising the impact it could have on shaping narratives and fostering talent.

With this venture, Alikiba follows in the footsteps of Diamond Platnumz, the Wasafi Media boss.

As Crown TV and Crown Radio embark on their journey, the Bongo Flava star continues to leave an indelible mark on the Tanzanian entertainment landscape.
