Over the past year, the top 15 most-watched artistes on YouTube in Kenya showcase a trend where only three Kenyan musicians make the cut, highlighting the regional appeal of Tanzanian sounds.

Leading the pack is Diamond Platnumz, boasting an impressive 127 million views. He’s followed closely by Rayvanny with 81.9 million and Harmonize at 78.3 million. The sole female representative in the top 10 is Zuchu, whose 78.1 million views demonstrate her rising star power.

Rwandan artiste Israel Mbonyi takes fifth place with 74.7 million views, while other Tanzanian talents like Mbosso, Jay Melody, and Alikiba further solidify their country’s musical dominance.

From Kenya, Guardian Angel stands at number six with 61.7 million views, followed by the Msanii Music Group at ninth with 48.6 million, and Otile Brown at fifteenth with 41.7 million views.

These figures reflect a growing appreciation for local talent, even as Bongo Flava remains a significant influence.

Tracks such as Jux's "Enjoy," Phina's "Sisi ni Wale," and Diamond Platnumz’s hits continue to resonate with Kenyan audiences, proving the enduring appeal of Tanzanian music in the region.

As the musical landscape evolves, it’s clear that while local artistes are gaining ground, the rhythmic allure of Bongo Flava remains a powerful force in shaping Kenya's music scene.
