Is Zuchu ditching Diamonds Platinumz' record label?

Diamond and Zuchu

What you need to know:

  • Zuchu, who officially signed with WCB in April 2020 as the label’s second female artist, has achieved significant success under its management.

It is nearly three weeks since the release of Zuchu’s debut album, ‘Money & Peace’ on December 20, and the singer has left her fans with more questions than answers after removing the mention of Wasafi  Classic Baby (WCB) from her Instagram bio.

This action has sparked speculation, echoing the moves of former WCB artists such as Rich Mavoko in July 2018, Harmonize in August 2019, and Rayvanny in July 2022, who also removed references to the record label before parting ways.

Zuchu, who officially signed with WCB in April 2020 as the label’s second female artist, has achieved significant success under its management.

However, her recent actions have raised doubts about her future with the label and her professional and personal ties to its CEO, Diamond Platnumz.

Further fuelling the rumours, Zuchu unfollowed Diamond Platnumz on Instagram shortly after updating her bio. This development has intensified speculation, with many wondering if Zuchu is preparing to sever ties with the label.

Adding to the drama, Zuchu took to Instagram to express her grievances against Diamond Platnumz and WCB.

She criticised the content aired on Mashamsham, a show on Diamond's Wasafi FM, accusing it of promoting discussions that undermine her mental health, physical well-being, and professional image.

“Despite the success I’ve achieved under @Wcb_Wasafi, I continue to face bullying and harassment through this platform,” she claimed.

She revealed that she has taken legal action by drafting an official letter to the label, demanding protection of her rights and dignity.

While expressing gratitude for the professional support she has received from Diamond, Zuchu criticised the negative impact of Wasafi Media’s content on her reputation and health. She made an emotional appeal for respect and constructive narratives.

Zuchu also addressed ongoing speculation about her relationship with Diamond Platnumz, dismissing claims that she pressured him into marriage.

In a fiery Instagram post, she firmly revealed, “I have no intention of forcing Naseeb (Diamond Platnumz) into marriage. I’ve never held him at gunpoint nor compelled him. He has the right to be with whomever he chooses.”

She warned those perpetuating the rumours to stop prying into her personal life, hinting at potential legal action against individuals spreading false narratives.

In her detailed statement, Zuchu expressed disappointment with WCB’s failure to address her concerns.

She accused the media team of deliberately creating content designed to humiliate her despite multiple pleas to Diamond to intervene.

“I have repeatedly asked for fairness and dignity, yet my requests have been ignored. Content continues to be created with the sole aim of damaging my reputation and health,” she lamented.

Zuchu concluded her statement with a heartfelt message, entrusting her fate to God and reiterating her commitment to standing against injustice.

While WCB has yet to comment on the matter, the label has posted a video clip of Zuchu alongside Nigerian artist Ayra Starr, currently touring Zanzibar.

Fans and critics alike await further developments, wondering if this marks the beginning of Zuchu’s exit from WCB or not.
