Building on the success of her previous hit series ‘Kapuni,’ ‘Nafsi Yangu,’ and ‘Jua Kali,’ Lamata proves her unmatched ability to craft compelling narratives.
This time, she presents a tale brimming with passion, betrayal, and family secrets—a drama set to keep viewers on the edge of their seats from the very first episode.
“The story took three years to write and another year to bring it to life. Every scene, every character, every moment was crafted with passion and dedication. It’s a labour of love, and you can see that in the depth of the story,” says Lamata in an exclusive interview with The Citizen.
At the core of Jacob’s Daughters are four half-sisters—Nuru, Nana, Caroline, and Candy—who share a bond through their father Jacob, but are torn apart by the fierce rivalries among their mothers.
As the sisters navigate their interconnected lives, they face challenges of love, loyalty, and the dark shadows of Jacob’s troubled past.

According to Lamata, who shares her deep connection to the series, she says there's a painstaking effort behind its creation.

“I draw inspiration from the world around me—from real people and real situations. I take those emotions and add my creative spin, turning them into something even more powerful,” she explains.

While many viewers have complimented Lamata's storytelling, several have expressed their wish that the new series had been offered across all streaming platforms.
A local film fan, Mr Jumanne Abdul, applauded Lamata’s consistency, “The series is lit! The bond in ‘Jacob’s Daughters’ is mutual. It’s just that not everyone can get in; it’s only them. Apologies to those who can’t win her favour, but Lamata has been doing great things.”
Ms Shamsia Abdullah shared her thoughts on Instagram, saying, “This is an incredible series. Lamata always gives her best. Keep entertaining us, sister. The film industry still needs a lot from you to keep us entertained and educated.”
Film enthusiast, Ms Rabia Ramadhani emphasised the importance of understanding the audience when creating a successful TV series.
“Lamata truly understands what her audience wants. She keeps delivering endless entertainment through her dramas,” she says.
Ms Rabia also highlights the realism of the characters in ‘Jacob’s Daughters,’ adding that Nuru, for example—a boxer with a hot temper.
"Then there’s Caroline, who’s always complaining and being argumentative. Nana, on the other hand, prefers older men, while Candy is the lazy one who avoids anything productive," she adds.
On the other hand, Mr Aloyce Mgodi celebrated the series’ international appeal, calling it a revolutionary step for Tanzanian dramas.
“This one is hot! Lamata, you’re killing us with these amazing series. You’re making us forget Turkish and Indian dramas entirely,” he exclaims.
