Kanye West slams Kendrick Lamar’s music and Playboi Carti collaboration

Kanye West and Kendrick Lamar.

Kanye West has publicly criticised Kendrick Lamar, stating he dislikes the rapper’s music. In a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter), Ye specifically expressed his frustration with Lamar’s appearance on Playboi Carti’s latest album, ‘I Am Music’.

“I don’t like Kendrick Lamar’s music,” writes Ye, admitting Lamar is a skilled rapper but arguing he didn’t need to be on Carti’s project. The statement has fuelled speculation about tensions between the two artistes.

Ye also took issue with Lamar’s diss track, ‘Not Like Us’, aimed at Drake, declaring, “I HAAAAAATED NOT LIKE US.” His remarks suggest deeper frustrations with the direction of hip-hop collaborations and industry dynamics.

Adding fuel to the fire, Ye’s posts also touch on a more personal grievance. He expresses outrage over being sidelined from the very project he had once influenced. In a pointed remark, he detailed his dismay that his daughter, North West, was approached for vocals—a move he saw as a stark reminder of his exclusion from the creative process.

“How it look for me to get left off the album and then he ask Kim to have vocals from my daughter,” he laments.

“I held my tongue about [not] being on Carti album. Him going to my ex to ask my daughter to be on a song 2 days later was too far. Nobody's finna play with me,” adds Ye.

Ye’s comments have sparked debate among fans and industry insiders, leaving many wondering whether this feud will escalate or fade away.
