Miss Tanzania opens up about battling depression

Rosey Manfere, the winner of Miss Tanzania 2020, has revealed that she battled depression during the period when the Miss World Competition was cancelled in 2020.

In an interview with Clouds FM on May 15, 2024 Rosey mentioned that the online comments regarding her inability to participate in the competition were causing her daily distress.

"It wasn't just about missing out on Miss World; it was the negativity online that really got to me. Dealing with depression and anxiety became a daily struggle. But I'm grateful for the unwavering support of my family," Rosey revealed.

The competition was put on hold during the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Despite the setbacks, Rosey remained focused on creating positive change.

She recognised the absence of major fashion events in Tanzania, such as the iconic Met Gala, and saw an opportunity to elevate the local fashion industry.

"We're exploring ways to bring more fashion events to Tanzania, starting small but aiming high. With only Miss Tanzania and Miss Kinondoni as our main platforms, there's room for more opportunities to showcase our local talent," Rosey shared
