Dar es Salaam. Tanzanian musician Rayvanny has emerged as the third most-streamed artist from Sub-Saharan Africa on YouTube Music, driven largely by the success of his single Oh Mama Tetema.
According to the latest figures, Rayvanny has amassed 121 million streams on the platform.
This places him ahead of regional heavyweights such as Davido, Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Diamond Platnumz.
He trails only Nigeria’s Rema, with 324 million streams, and Molly, who leads with 359 million.
The ranking represents a major milestone for Rayvanny, making him the only Tanzanian artist currently in the top three.
Rayvanny’s career has previously attracted international attention. In 2017, he became the first Tanzanian to win a BET Award, and he has since appeared on global charts, including Billboard in Mexico.
He has also performed on major stages such as the CHAN tournament, Dubai’s Coca-Cola Arena, and the Accor Arena in Paris, underscoring his growing international profile.
Since leaving WCB Wasafi in mid-2022, Rayvanny has steadily built his independent musical identity through high-profile collaborations.
In November 2022, he reunited with his former label head, Diamond Platnumz on Nitongoze, which quickly gained traction across streaming platforms.
In June 2024, he teamed up with Harmonize on Sensema, a notable collaboration given the history of rivalry between Harmonize’s Konde Gang and WCB, and the single dominated charts in Tanzania.
In May 2025, Rayvanny released Pere, collaborating with Marioo and Harmonize, further signalling his continued ability to forge meaningful alliances in the East African music scene.
The ongoing success of Oh Mama Tetema adds to Rayvanny’s visibility on the global stage and highlights the growing presence of East African music on international streaming platforms.
