Former Mbeya City Director John Nchimbi joins race for Nyasa parliamentary seat

Nyasa. Former Mbeya City Director John John Nchimbi has joined the race for the Nyasa parliamentary seat after collecting nomination forms under the ruling party, Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM), setting up a potential contest against incumbent MP Stellah Manyanya.

Nyasa District CCM Secretary Acheni Mauld confirmed on Sunday, June 29, that as of 11 a.m., a total of nine party members had picked up nomination forms to seek CCM endorsement for the seat.

Among those vying for the position are Dr Philip Nyimbi, former Secretary General of the CCM Women’s Wing (UWT), Joanes Lyombo, Stanley Ncheya Mahundi and Dr Dua Khamis Chengula.

Others include Mr John Grayson Kapinga, Mecktrida Oddo Nchimbi and Engineer Iman Komba Lipuka.

“The response has been very encouraging and we are witnessing a strong level of enthusiasm from party members seeking nomination for various parliamentary seats,” said Mr Mauld.

The nomination exercise is part of the wider internal party process ahead of the October 2025 General Election.
