Last respects for music star Ngwair this Sunday

The Bongo Flavour artiste will be flown to Dar today or tomorrow for burial at Kihonda in Morogoro Region

Dar es Salaam. City residents will have an opportunity to pay their last respects to Bongo flavour music star the late Albert Mangwea alias Ngwair on Sunday.

The body of Mangwea, who died in South Africa on Tuesday monring, is expected to arrive in the country today or tomorrow, pending the release of the postmortem report which was conducted yesterday.

Briefing members of the media in the city yesterday, the funeral committee spokesperson, Mr Adam Juma, said that the family in collaboration with the artistes has decided that the last respects event be on Sunday Morning.

“We have chosen Sunday because we are sure that the body will already be in the country. The whole exercise will take place at the Kijitonyama Postal grounds, starting from 8am,” he said.

Mr Juma detailed that after the body’s arrival, it will be taken to the Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH) for preservation waiting for the Sunday programme.

“After the Sunday programme here in Dar es Salaam, we will start the journey to Kihonda, Morogoro Region where he will be buried on the same day,” he detailed.

Meanwhile, he called on Tanzanians to give donations for funeral expenses.

Meanwhile, another Tanzanian musician, Mgaza Pembe, is still hospitalised in South Africa, has been moved from the intensive care unit (ICU )to a normal ward.

Electronic media reports late yesterday afternoon indicated that the condition of the artiste, who was reported to be in a bad condition after Ngwair’s death was pronounced, had improved.
