17 people died on the spot, and 12 others were critically injured in a freak road accident in the early hours of February 4, 2023, in Korogwe, Tanga region.

According to information provided by Tanga Regional Commissioner Omary Mgumba, the accident involved the collision of two vehicles, leading to multiple deaths.
